Privacy policy
This policy describes the My House household app and its Home Assistant Nest connection, provided by Setup My House for the private household pilot.

1. Information the connection accesses
When you connect Google Nest, Home Assistant receives the information and permissions you approve through Google. These can include your home name, room names and postal code; thermostat identifiers and names; temperature and humidity readings; operating modes, target temperatures and other supported device settings; and device status updates. Control permission allows authorized thermostat settings to be changed.
Google handles your Google sign-in and consent. My House does not ask for or receive your Google password. Home Assistant stores the authorization credentials needed to keep the Nest integration connected.
Other enabled My House features use household device names, rooms, status and control information from Home Assistant, household access settings, app preferences and diagnostic information. Camera, presence, notification and voice features process additional information only where those features are configured and used.
2. How information is used
Information is used to display your home’s status, identify devices and rooms, carry out authorized commands, run configured household automations, manage access, deliver enabled notifications and investigate connection or device problems.
Google Nest data is used to provide the connected-home features you authorize. It is not sold, used for advertising or used to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
3. Where information is processed and stored
The household’s Home Assistant system maintains its integration credentials, configuration and any enabled history, logs and backups. My House stores connection settings and app preferences on enrolled phones and tablets and processes device information received from that system. The household server also maintains the access and feature settings needed to operate the app.
When remote access is enabled, an encrypted connection carries app requests and home responses through a relay hosted by Render. The relay forwards encrypted content; the hosting provider can process connection metadata, such as network addresses and connection timing, to operate the service. Connecting a Nest thermostat also requires communication with Google’s services.
4. Who can receive information
Household members receive the information their app permissions allow. Household administrators can manage connected devices, integrations and access. Google processes the Nest requests and device information needed for the integration, and service providers involved in enabled features process information required to deliver those features.
For example, Apple processes notification delivery information when iPhone alerts are enabled. Android speech recognition processes microphone input when you activate voice control; the recognized text is sent to the household’s configured Home Assistant conversation service. Its processing depends on the conversation provider selected by the household administrator. Enabled camera and presence features also use the services configured for those features.
If you request support, information you choose to provide, such as diagnostic details or screenshots, may be reviewed to investigate the problem. Do not send passwords, access tokens or household entry codes by email. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law.
5. Retention and deletion
Connection credentials and configuration are retained while the integration remains configured. Device history, diagnostic logs, recordings and backups follow the retention settings of the household system and the services that store them; there is no single retention period for every installation.
Revoking Google access stops future authorized access through that connection. It does not automatically erase previously stored Home Assistant history, logs or backups. The household administrator can remove the integration and manage retained data and backups. Contact hello@setupmyhouse.com for help with access or deletion requests involving information held by Setup My House. Removing the app does not by itself remove data stored in the household system or by another service.
6. Your choices
You can review or revoke the connection in your Google Account’s third-party connections. You can also remove the Nest integration in Home Assistant. Revoking access disables features that depend on that connection.
Your household administrator manages My House enrollment and device permissions. You can control microphone, notification and location permissions in your phone or tablet settings. Ask the administrator which history, camera recording, presence and conversation features are enabled in your household.
7. Security
Access controls and encrypted remote transport help protect household information. Administrators should limit access to trusted users, protect Home Assistant credentials and backups, and keep enrolled devices secure. No system can guarantee absolute security.
8. Policy changes and contact
Changes to these practices will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Questions about this policy, your information or the Home Assistant Nest connection can be sent to hello@setupmyhouse.com.
This policy covers the app and connection described above. Google and other independently operated services have their own privacy policies governing their processing.
